That’s what she said
“That’s what she said” is a phrase used in a response to statement that may look normal, but when you put the that’s what she said phrase behind it, it becomes a sexual like statement and can be used as a joke on the internet.
For example, if a sentence contains “long and hard” you can put or react with “that’s what she said” to it and it will be instantly funny for the ones with a nasty mindset.
Origin of the term
The exact origin is unknown, but the phrase originates sometime in the 1990s from Britain.
The phrase “That’s what she said” first started to get popular after it has appeared in a 1992 Canadian film called “Wayne’s World” where it was used in a scene by the Canadian comedian “Mike Myers” who played as Wayne and used the phrase as a response to his sidekick “Garth” while they were shooting a local access television show in the basement of his house.
Spread of the term
“That’s what she said” thanks to the Urban Dictionary’s 2003 entry, explaining its meaning and use, started to become known around the internet, however its peak popularity can be thanked to the TV series called “The Office”, where the character called Michael Scott uses the phrase during the whole series, which has spawned the memes we all know today.
