Meaning
Darty was originally a surname, as well as a company in France, established in 1957, specializing in electrical retailing.
Its secondary, slang meaning, that is a lot more prevalent than the previous two refers to the act of partying and getting drunk during the daytime.
“Dartying” is especially common and liked in university campuses, primarily in the vicinity of frat houses, which are permanent “darty” venues.

Origin
The term is hard to pin down, in its origin, though it is most likely from the late 90’s or the early 2000’s.
The word is constructed by combining the terms day and party, resulting in the titular portmanteau; “Darty”.
Spread and Usage
“Darty” has been a phenomenon at campuses for years and decades, so it is unsurprising, that in the last decade someone came up with a shrewd term for getting wrecked during the day.
In the last two decades, university life has been a more and more prevalent theme in the movie industry, with films such as Neighbors and Total Frat Movie, which are perfectly depicting what a “darty” looks like.
The term was first mentioned on Urban Dictionary in 2006.
