Although the exact origin of the expression is not known, an isolated clip of the soundbite was first uploaded to YouTube on September 2nd, 2012, by 1kzz.
On January 14th, 2013, a YouTube parody was uploaded to the channel of bossonsj, which depicted Christopher Mintz-Plasse to be the voice behind the “Certified Hood Classic” recording.
Spread and Usage
Starting in 2016, the line would be featured in various parody songs, such as the We Are Number One remix uploaded to YouTube by SilvaGunner on September 13th, 2016.
These parodies grew significantly in number in 2019, with various remixes using nonsensical footage as samples, to be combined with the “Certified Hood Classic” soundbite.
