Whomst is the made up word, we say when we want to appear as mentally superior, and we end up looking like an idiot, who can’t even speak proper English.
The term was born in 2016, when the first Urban Dictionary definition was added about it, with several others following throughout the years.
Soon after, people started to ironically adopt it to their online lingo, especially in memes.
The first instance of it was probably seen on an Instagram meme, which set the ground for the new meme of the month; whomst.
Spread and Usage
It was 2017, when the most common format of the meme was created, by Instagram user b3pis, depicting increasingly satisfied reactions of a guy to the more extended versions of who, whom etc.
Soon after this, people started to extend whomst to “whomst’d” and later, the final form was to be seen; “Whomst’d’ve’ly’yaint’nt’ed’ies’s’y’es”.
Its absurdly great length made it widespread in memes, even giving it its own Urban Dictionary entry.
These memes have spread from Instagram to Reddit, 4chan as well as meme groups on Facebook and though their golden age ended in 2017, we may still find some pictures with the iconic whomst typed above a big brained bloke.
