What's the origin of Ow the Edge?

The game, titled Shadow the Hedgehog was released in North America on November 15th, 2005.

It was this game’s cover, that was first edited and uploaded to 4chan’s /v/ board, revolving around video games.

The game’s cover was edited by blocking parts of the title, so that the only legible words were “ow the edge”.

The image was uploaded to 4chan on September 22nd, 2012.
