The reaction is seen in The Bite of ’87 REVEALED!! | Five Nights at Freddy’s 4 – Part 5, uploaded to YouTube by Markiplier on July 27th, 2015.
In the video, Markiplier reacts to a cutscene where Freddy, an animatronic bear, crushes a child’s skull in its mouth.
After the cutscene, Markiplier was left speechless for a few seconds, before exclaiming “was that the bite of 87?”
His reaction would start to be edited on other videos in July, 2019.

An early instance of the parody was uploaded to YouTube by Zeeboq on July 11, 2019.
The format took until December, until it got viral, due to a popular Twitter repost.
