The word ikuzo means let’s go/I’m going when translated from Japanese.
It is mostly used as a reaction image on the internet, with various pictures (deep fried memes) having the caption added to them, but mostly the original song is used as remix material.
The word itself was basically first used as a nickname by Yoshi Ikuzo, who wrote/performed the song called “I’ll go to Tokyo”, where the word got its meaning from.
The song was first released in 1984 and got decent attention, to the point, where people despised what ikuzo was singing about and protested the song.
Like any other worthy material, that can be used for or turned into funny content, “I’ll go to Tokyo” resurfaced on the internet in the early 21st century.
It went on the become the material for a slew of remixes due to its unique style of delivery.
Most of these were uploaded to the video sharing website called Niconico, but it would reach its peak in popularity, when the famous song “Technologic” by Daft Punk, was mashed up with it, creating “Ikzologic”.
Most of these remixes found their way onto YouTube in the following years, but the interest would not peak any further.
