IGHT
Meaning
Ight is a short version of “aight”, which is also a short version of the actual word “alright”.
It is the cool, lazy version of saying alright, when you cannot be bothered to pronounce the first three letters of the word.
It is an affirmative term, and most people use it jokingly, or have used it jokingly so much that they have started saying it automatically.
Skaters, rappers and “cool kids” use it, and it is known as a black colloquial English slang term.

Origin
Aight has been used longer than Ight, which first became a thing in the 90’s.
In 1993, Doug E. Fresh released a track called I-ight, which was the first record of the term.
In the late 2010’s, the terms popularity grew substantially thanks to the popular “Ight, imma head out” meme.
Spread and Usage
The slang was mainly used in hip-hop cultures and Black colloquial English and writing.
However, in 2019, the Spongebob meme “Ight imma head out” spread rapidly on the internet, strongly popularizing the word, and spreading it on to further meme creations.
Since then, the slang has spread to online videos, live gaming streams and colloquial speech, not just in the Black communities.
