Origin

What's the origin of Goit?

The word first appeared in print in 1946, but it is most likely older. “Goit” and its alternative, “git” is originally an alteration of the word “get”, dating back to the 14th century.

It is a shortening for the term “beget”, which suggests that the recipient is someone’s misbegotten offspring and therefore a bastard.

In some parts of northern England, northern Ireland and Scotland, “goit” is still a popular term to use and is still used in preference to “git”.

Spread and Usage

How did Goit spread?

Looking at the Urban Dictionary entries on the term, the slang term “goit” was mainly popular in the early 2000s.

However, there are also a couple of definitions submitted around the late 2010s where the term was given a different meaning, and it was defined as “a derogatory term for vagina”.
