Case of The Mondays
To have a case of the Mondays is to be in an abhorrent mood due to the beginning of the new work week.
It is globally observable, although it is the most prevalent among those attending school, or working a 9 to 5 job.
Freelancers and entrepreneurs are mostly immune to the “case of the Mondays”.
The expression appeared in the 1999 film, Office Space in which Peter Gibbons (portrayed by Ron Livingston) is attempting to convince coworkers into leaving the office, before he “loses it”.
After hearing this conversation, a female coworker comments “Uh oh. It looks like somebody’s got a case of the Mondays”.
