Meaning

What does Sike That’s The Wrong Number mean?

Sike, that’s the wrong number is a catchphrase that was popularized by the fictional rapper Supa Hot Fire a.k.a. DeShawn Raw on YouTube, via his parody rap-battle videos where he battles other real or fictional rappers.

Supa Hot uttered the line in his initial, and most popular video, as the ending line of his first verse upon battling T-Bone.

The line has grown to be a reference to beefing and rap battles in general, to the rap battle parodies, and is also used in image macros. The audio sample taken from the video is often featured in video and music remixes.

What's the origin of Sike That’s The Wrong Number?

Comedian DeShawn Raw started his career on YouTube, uploading videos about himself and his friends making fun of general pop culture.

It wasn’t until 2011 when he invented his rapper character Supa Hot Fire and posted his first rap battle parody video on YouTube, based on a similar trend that was prominent on the website during the early 2010s.

The video, titled The Rap Battle (Parody), went viral and generated over 10 million views before getting removed by DeShawn in 2013.

Spread and Usage

How did Sike That’s The Wrong Number spread?

The video’s early popularity can be accredited to the fact that WorldStarHiphop featured it in one of their posts, soon after the clip was uploaded on YouTube.

Later the viral sensation spread on Facebook and other social media platforms as well.

Eventually, the entirety of DeShawn Raw’s web comic series was deleted by the creator himself, but his legacy persisted through the various Supa Hot memes, which include sike that’s the wrong number and I’m about to end this man’s whole career among others.
