Kermit memes started appearing on Instagram in 2014, thanks to the popularity of the hashtag #kermitmemes.
The first time “Kermit sipping tea” was posted, was on June 17th, 2014.
Spread and Usage
Three days after the first post, an Instagram feed, named @thatsnoneofmybusinesstho was conceived with the titular captions posted on various pictures.
Within months, the meme took over Twitter, as well as Tumblr and it started to be a frequent post on 9GAG as well.
As of February 5th, 2021, it is one of the most recognized memes on the internet.
