I’m Not Strong Enough
I’m not strong enough refers to a popular quote from The Incredibles, used on reaction image macros to express repulsion, aversion and hesitance toward a task.
The Incredibles premiered in the United States on November 5th, 2004, gaining huge popularity among audiences of all ages.
Toward the end of the animation, Mr. Incredible is explaining his wife why he is hesitant to let her join the final boss fight, confessing that he can’t lose her again, saying “I’m not strong enough”.
Spread and Usage
The first image macro memes of the scene were posted to Tumblr by mydollyaviana on January 19th, 2013.
Despite this, the format didn’t gain a larger popularity until after 2016, as “I’m not strong enough” GIFs and image macros started appearing on Facebook, Reddit, 9GAG, me.me and iFunny.
In 2019, the image macros of the scene were used for an alternate meme on Reddit, with different, more profane captions reading “Shut the – up”.
