Meaning
Femboy Hooters refers to the idea of a fictional Hooters where the waitresses are actually men who crossdress as if they were female.
This idea has inspired content creators to play with the idea of how such an establishment would be maintained, and to create various photo-edited images to illustrate these ideas.
Origin
The idea was born on Twitter in 2019, after user @Comfy_Times tweeted the idea of “hooters but it’s staffed entirely by femboys”.
Following that, other Twitter users started to discuss the idea on the platform.
Spread and Usage
The meme was only recognized on certain parts of Twitter, until 2020.
During 2020, a screenshot of a tweet saying “we need femboy hooters” surfaced on Reddit’s /r/gay_irl subreddit. The screenshot went viral.
Soon a large amount of content featuring Femboy Hooters was uploaded on social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok.
Eventually, the /r/femboyhooters subreddit was launched at the end of 2020.
