Banana Doppio is an online meme, featuring a photoshop edit of the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure character, Vinegar Doppio’s face edited on to a banana, telling random facts, with the punchline “Banana Doppio out”.
The format is most prevalent on Reddit and YouTube.
Origin
The character, Vinegar Doppio was first featured in the fifth part of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure manga series; Vento Aureo.
Doppio appeared in the 102nd chapter of the manga, which was published in March, 1998.
“Banana Doppio” memes started emerging on Reddit and YouTube in September 2019.
Spread and Usage
The meme would start out in manga related subreddits and YouTube channels, referencing the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure series on many occasions.
Over time, however, the format took a turn toward shitposting, with various random and nonsensical facts being shared by “Banana Doppio”.
Later, the meme would emerge on various social media sites as well, such as Facebook or Instagram.
