Meaning

What does Femcel mean?

A Femcel is a version of an incel referring to women that are incapable – or perceive themselves incapable – of getting sexual attention.

The Femcels consider themselves unfortunate in society because their looks does not accommodate societal beauty standards, and therefore, is not getting them laid.

However, it is under discussion whether these Femcels cannot get laid, or if they simply does not want to have sex with the mates that are offered, for example, less attractive sexual partners.

The “decile scale” is often used together with the concept of Femcels, which is the scale rating a person’s attractiveness from 1 (very unattractive) to 10 (extremely attractive).

A Femcel is considered to be a 3, or by some, any sub-5.

Origin of the term

“Incel” is short for “involuntary celibacy”.

Celibacy was normally used by monks, and would originally mean someone who is unmarried, so the original definition of Femcel would be a woman so attractive that no one would marry her.

In many religions, sex is synonymous to marriage, hence the connection between Femcel and sex.

Spread of the term

Many will say the the concept of Femcelism does not exist, but certain other versions of female celibacy has realistic roots.

For example, in many strongly religious communities, a woman is not to have intercourse until she is married.

Some are also sexually starved in a sexless marriage, if its caused by the partner.
