The emote and reaction face AYAYA was taken from a Japanese anime called “Kin-iro Mosaic” where a character mis-hears the name of Aya due to the pronunciation in the Japanese language, thus calling her Ayaya.
The face of the character Karen was turned into an emote for the streaming website Twitch.tv, which can be used to express pleasure, happiness and/or excitement.
A festive variant of the emote exists with the same name, but with added outlines of a Santa hat.
Origin of the emote
Originating from the episode “What Kind of Friends”, which is the third instalment of the anime called Kin-iro Mosaic, that aired mid-2013 and was uploaded to the video sharing website YouTube a month later.
The emote AYAYA was created for Twitch.tv, featuring the face of Karen in 2017. By adding it to the FrankerFaceZ collection, which is a browser extension, that enhances the viewing experience of users by making new unique emotes, chat features etc available on Twitch.tv.

Due to the popularity of the “Weeb culture” on the internet, the reaction image/emote became successful in an instant on website like: YouTube, Reddit, 4chan and Twitch.tv.
As of 10/12/2019 according to the website StreamElements, AYAYA is the 2nd on the list of most popular/used emotes on the website Twitch.tv, making it one of the more popular emotes.
