Assless chaps is a piece of clothing similar to pants, but with no crotch and seat area, just a pair of legs often attached by a belt around the hips.
Although often referred to as “assless chaps”, the first word can be considered somewhat unnecessary, as chaps in general do not cover the ass. Therefore, “assless chaps”, and simply “chaps” can be used interchangeably.

Origin of the term
The term “chaps” is a short version of the Spanish term with the same meaning “chaparreras”, worn by cowboys in the early 19th century.
They have always technically been “assless”, as the chaps would generally be worn over normal pants, but adding “assless” provides a more vulgar vibe to the garment.
Spread of the term
Due to mainly being made from leather – the favorite fabric of the BDSM community – and the general convenience of not covering one’s crotch and ass, the garment quickly took a sexual turn.
It was embraced by subs and doms around the 70’s, soon to be followed by gay men.
Famous singer Prince wore a buttocks-revealing bodysuit during the MTV Video Awards in 1991, soon referred to by the media as “assless chaps”.
During the 2020 Covid-19 quarantine, Kim Kardashian took part in a sexy photoshoot wearing the fun piece of clothing.
